Samurai Incubate Africa, GrowthAfrica Selects 10 Startups for Africa’s Notable Startup Pitch Event

Samurai Incubate Africa Selects 10 Startups that will pitch in front of a panel of angel investors and VCs at Africa’s Notable Startup Pitch Event 2019.

The pitch event which has been organized by Samurai Incubate Africa and Growth Africa seeks to provide seed-stage or growth stage funding to startups in finance, logistics, insurance, healthcare and mobility fields. The winner is set to receive US$100,000.

Samurai Incubate Africa launched a US$3.4 million fund to invest in seed-stage startups within the greater East Africa region. The company has its headquarters based in Tokyo with African operations stationed in Kigali, Rwanda.

The event which will not be opened to the general public, will be held this week on 18th July at the GrowthAfrica office, Nairobi.

Here are the ten startups:

Afrijob – Brings top talent from all over the world to team up with fast-growing startups in Africa.

Bluewave Insurance – An insurance startup that creates an innovative mass market, microinsurance products accessible via mobile devices.

Hoji – Help NGOs and research consultants automate surveys and M&E for smart and timely decision making.

Julla – Julla is a point of sale financing company that enables users to purchase items now and pay later.

Medbit – An online medical platform that allows patients to book appointments and seek treatment from doctors in Kenya.

OZE – Provides small businesses with the data they need to make decisions enabling investment-readiness and a chance for a local economy to assert itself on a global stage.

Raino is a social enterprise that is leveraging technology as an enabler to empower African communities. 

Ridesafe – Is a first-time Blockchain-based application offering real-time Emergency Response solutions to the public motorbike sector in the event of an accident.

TalkLift – Provides an easy way for businesses to manage conversations with their customers from different communication channel through inbuilt AI-powered chatbot engines.

Tovuti – Provides professional, comprehensive and fully-fledged software solutions for ranging from point of sale, card and mobile payments and retail solutions.

Uzapoint – Is an Enterprise Resource Planning tool for small, medium and large enterprises to connect with their clients and automate business processes.
