African leading e-commerce platform, Jumia have announced the addition of National Basketball Association (NBA) star Andre Iguodala as a member of its board.
The star who is born of a Nigerian father and African American mother, and serves as a shooting guard with the Golden State Warriors will bring his vast network to promote the technology industry in Africa.
“Because of my Nigerian heritage, Jumia’s use of technology to deliver innovative online services to consumers and improve the quality of everyday life in Africa is very important to me,” says Andre Iguodala. “I’m thrilled to be a part of this unique enterprise that is shaping the future of digital Africa.”
Iguodala is widely known for his interest and knowledge in technology having invested in several companies including Walker & Co., NerdWallet, Thrive Global, AllBirds etc. He has also partnered with Bloomberg to create the annual Players Technology Summit, which brings together leaders from the technology, venture capital and sports sectors to network, exchange ideas and develop strategies around the latest innovations in business.
