Founder’s Yard 2019: The 6 Most Innovative Entrepreneurs in Kenya

At Founder360°, our mission has always been to build a knowledge infrastructure of well-researched news and data on African startup and tech landscape including putting a special focus on the key personalities driving innovation in the continent. While this is so, we also aim to provide 360° learning experience for aspiring entrepreneurs in what it takes to start, build and grow an idea into a successful business.

And this is why we are introducing ‘Founder’s Yard’, an annual project that involves doing a special feature on outstanding techpreneurs in Kenya and Africa who are under the age of 35.

The main mission of “Founder’s Yard” is to highlight to the world, the cutting-edge innovation taking place in the continent but also putting a spotlight on some of the youngest, brightest and visionaries spearheading these tech startups; while providing key learning points from each entrepreneur.

This year’s inaugural edition involved featuring 6 entrepreneurs from Kenya who in their own creative and simple ways are harnessing on technology to provide innovative solutions across different sectors.

From creating automation solutions for SME’s to providing affordable financial products to women, these entrepreneurs are shuddering some of the most composite sectors in Africa.

The edition involved taking the entrepreneurs through a set of similar questions shedding light into how they started and what other aspiring entrepreneurs can learn. Founder360° will also incorporate the entrepreneurs in some of the industry events we will be having through the year.

We believe that their achievements and contribution to entrepreneurship & innovation development in Kenya and Africa is unparalleled.

Tesh Mbaabu – Leverages on Technology To Solve Business-related Challenges
Winnie Kimathi – Provides an Online Marketplace, Booking Service and Distributor for Leisure Experiences
Abraham Mbuthia – Provides an ERP Tool for SMEs Enabling Automation of Their Business Processes

*Methodology: The process involved identifying entrepreneurs who are under the age of 35 and using technology to solve a particular problem. We take into account both the company and the entrepreneur’s work and achievement. Going forward into the 2020 edition, the project will open a call for applications across East Africa.
